This project falls under ITSM domain. ITSM refers to IT Service Management which is often equated with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library, (ITIL) an official publication of the Office of Government Commerce in the United Kingdom.

IT Service Management (ITSM) is a process-based practice intended to align the delivery of information technology (IT) services with needs of the enterprise, emphasizing benefits to customers. This tool is equivalent to the Tivoli Tool used by IBM. It is a remedy tool developed by BMC soft wares .

Unisys Managed Security Services Portal Migration to Liferay

The Unisys Managed Security Services Portal provides access to the security services to which your enterprise subscribes. The portal includes:

  • Dashboards
  • Incidents Management
  • Threat and Vulnerability (T&V) Management

The portal is structured according to ITIL naming conventions and methodologies. Clients that have adopted ITIL will find the portal’s logic and layout commensurate with the ITIL standards.

 The “VantagePoint Project” is focused on the modernization of the user interface (UI) of the Unisys Self-Service Portal and the extension of the Portal to mobile devices.

The Self-Service Portal is based on the Liferay platform and currently supports multiple applications in Unisys GMS portfolio including: Virtual Service Desk, IMACD Portal, ITSM Offline Ticketing, Secure Private Cloud Orchestrator, Managed Deployment Portal, ClearPath Forward and coming up the Managed Security Services Portal.

Today the Virtual Service Desk (VSD) is deployed to about 60 Unisys clients with more than 300,000 end users worldwide and is integrated with our Remedy ITSM system and service desk. Approximately one new VSD client is being added each month as ITSM 7.6 continues to be upgraded for existing Unisys BMC Remedy clients and deployed for non-BMC Remedy clients. The VSD provides an end user friendly UI and user interaction, rather than a service desk agent UI and interaction.

The UI modernization project is based on the VSD, but serves as the model for future UI enhancement to the other Liferay-based applications listed above. The new UI is web-based and will be developed using responsive design techniques that will allow the UI format to adapt the screen size of the device.
